The Abandoned, Civil Defense, Meridian

We find out more about the Jem’Hadar when a baby is found.

This needed another re-write. It was cool to see a Jem’Hadar child grow and give us a window into their species – no question. But the story wasn’t very compelling around it. They needed to go deeper. It was a good idea to have Odo spend time with the kid and try to convince him he’s more than the species from which he originates. I wanted more insight into how Odo felt since finding out he was part of a species of war mongers.

Had Starfleet security been forced to kill the Jem’Hadar boy while Odo watched that would have been a great ending.

The Star Trek The Next Generation episode “Disaster” is re-written to take place on DS9.

Pretty disappointing episode. I liked when Dukat got stuck on DS9 because the computer thought he was making a run for it when he tried to beam out. Great twist.

The Defiant finds a planet that routinely phases in and out of our universe and Dax finds love.

Let me jump to the climax… it’s hilarious. The FX are atrocious and Terry Farrel is wicked funny as she stumbles around while apparently also following direction to not move and stay in frame. Gold!

Credit to the writers here for making a love story that was somehow plausible. I actually believed that Dax was willing to leave her life behind for this guy she just met – even though he is an “other” ; )
